RADIO INTERVIEW

I have a radio interview tomorrow with a radio station from Chicago. Apparently they heard about our Every Man's Battle for Purity and want to interview me about the battle and the help men receive. Pray that it goes well and that guys can find help for this struggle. It's been a real blessing to our men to have this minstry and I hope this interview turns out as well as the news story on channel 4.

The interview is at 6:10am so I'll definitely need a double shot! (Of prayers and coffee!)  Thanks for your prayers!

YES, I DRINK REDBULL (DIET)

I'm always amazed at the questions I get after we show a video in church! People thought I was really mean in the video when I said, "Off with your head!" and wondered if I'm a mean boss! I'm not mean at all and that's what made it even funnier but people still wondered. (I do occasionally wear a crown but it's really no big deal. Just kidding for those of you that didn't get that humor...)

I also was asked by several people if I drink Redbull and one person looked like they were going to quit the church because I said yes. Just so everyone knows, I drink Diet Redbull, it's not an alcoholic drink and here are the facts and ingredients. It contains 10 calories, has 3 carbs, 200mg of sodium and has 100% of the daily dose of Niacin, 250% of Vitamin B6, 80% of B12 and 50% of Panothentic Acid. It's a vitamin and energy drink and I drink about 3 per week. I'm not addicted!

I also drink about 6 cups of coffee each week and most of the time I'll just do a straight double shot. (No need for the fluids, just get me the caffeine!) Come to think of it, I might be addicted to coffee! I didn't start drinking coffee until I turned 40 so I held out as long as I could but now when I get a little sleepy, I grab a double shot!

A few last things from the video, Alan doesn't wear a jester outfit around the office, Jeff does play the recorder, those were my swords in the video and yes that really was my office. There, I think I've got it covered!

RVC ON T.V.

If you missed it when I announced it this past weekend at our Apple alley Campus, I shared that RVC will be on T.V. starting this weekend! We have the 9:30am time slot on Cable Channel 6 and will be showing a half hour show of some of our previous services. We will start out with the series we did in October called The Four Last Things and move forward form there. So just to be clear, we will be showing old services from RVC and it won't be live. (So you still need to come to church!) We will edit the services to fit the time frame so if you feel the urge to stand up and get on camera , we will just edit you out! (This was for Mick, Erik and Chris!)Also, I promise that I will not turn into a televangelist! This is to just get our services out to the Minnesota households within driving distance and to let them know we're here and provide teaching for those unable to attend. I have no vision of becoming the next Joel Osteen!

I'm really pumped to see this vision come to pass and to see what we can do through us to make a bigger impact on the cities we minister in. Be sure to set your DVR to channel 6 cable for 9:30am this weekend!

ANNUAL BUSINESS MEETING

We had our Annual Business Meeting tonight following service and all went well. It was uneventful and really was very positive. One person told me that it's the first time they've ever been to a business meeting and felt God's presence and cried! It just was a moving time to celebrate God's goodness in 2008 and dream of what he has in store for us in the future. Thank you to all of you that stayed after and were part of the meeting, now we can continue to focus on the rest of the ministry of RVC.

ANNUAL BUSINESS MEETING

It's time for our annual business meeting at River Valley Church and we will be holding it right after our evening service tonight. We've posted it on the website and in the bulletin but I'm sure that many are not paying attention to it. (Compared to other church activities, reports and business issues are not that exciting!)

The Saturday service is going to end with a call to prayer and then after we pray for a little while we'll set up and get ready for the meeting. It should be short and just give the report for the finances in 2008. If you are not able to attend the meeting but still go to the weekend services, we have a report prepared for you to see the income and expenses of the church. There's no major business scheduled (Revisions to the by-laws, acquisitions etc.) but if you're a member it's still important to be there to hear the report and to see how faithful God has been to us. Hope to see you there.

PRAY FOR AND HELP THOSE IN THE FARGO MOORHEAD AREA

Please pray for a lower than expected crest to the Red River in the Fargo Moorhead area and if it is at all possible and you are near there, please help. This could be a huge disaster as the flood waters pass record levels.

I am always amazed that this is an issue almost every year and I'm not sure why people build so close to a river but now is not the time to debate, I guess it's the time to help and pray. SO lend a hand if you can and hopefully they can figure out a way to fix this in the future.

THE KING PART 4

We are finishing the series The King and for the final week we have a video that I think is hilarious! (I hope I didn't raise your expectations too high!) It was a lot of fun to do and earlier this week I saw the rough version of it and it was great. SO come this weekend for part 4 of The King and maybe lower your expectations on the video because it's good, but it's not at the Make the Change level!  

ON CHANNEL 4 WCCO

Last night channel 4 (WCCO CBS) did a story on the Every Man's Battle for Purity event that we hosted at River Valley and they did a great job! (Here's the link.) I was a little nervous about the story but I knew Darcy Pohland's reputation as being a good and fair reporter so I watched with a lot of eager anticipation. I have to say a huge thank you to Darcy for a great story!

Every Man's Battle for Purity has been a huge blessing to the men of River Valley Church and has caused all of us to have a higher standard of purity. If you've not been to a boot camp, there are other churches that host the event year round so you don't have to miss out if you weren't here this winter. I think it's very important to live pure and be the man of God you are meant to be so don't miss out on this ministry.

Also, I want to say thank you to all of the men that make EMBFP a strong ministry and give so many hours to help the men of our church and surrounding communities. Without you, this ministry couldn't happen so I want you to know how much I appreciate your willingness to serve. You're making a huge difference so keep up the great work!

PRESIDENT BILLY HORNSBY

Every Tuesday morning we have staff meeting and we pray for a Government official, a religious leader and a local church. (We also pray for 10 families from the church, a missionary and our church leadership every week.) This week I thought it was funny that we prayed for Billy Hornsby, President of ARC! I'm so used to seeing President Obama that it threw me off!

WEEKEND MARATHON!

  No, I didn't run a marathon this past weekend, but it felt like I did! I had church Saturday night at RVC and was able to do the announcements, hang out and also sneak into the GO kids service and watch Connor and Logan do a skit. It's a real joy to see your kids active in the church! After service I hung around until midnight putting the fishing touches on a sermon I had been working on for Substance Church and then off to bed.

Sunday I had to preach at three church services for Substance Church, (8:00, 9:45 and 11:30) and then lead their leaders meeting in the afternoon. Let me say this before I go any further, Substance Church is an awesome church! They're young, full of energy and full of passion and their best days are ahead of them. We actually helped to start them and it was a real joy to be able to preach to the 1400 people that were there.

After the leaders meeting it was back to RVC for our water baptism service and I have to say, it never gets old to baptize people! The changed lives are something worth celebrating! I also love using the public schools to do the baptisms because it put us out into the public and not in the church. Water Baptism is supposed to be a public profession of an inward change and I like to do it outside the church. Congratulations to all of the people that followed the Lord in water baptism!

As you can see, it was a busy weekend but it was a blast! (I had to take a picture with the portable equipment at Substance Church, it brought me back to our portable days!)
