One of the things that I've been working on lately is the strategy for continued growth and ministry at River Valley as we get ready for all of the new people moving into Dakota County. It still amazes me that we grew by about 40% last year and we're still moving forward at a pretty healthy clip. Mother's Day was a new non-Easter attendance high for us with 1463 people at church and the only service with lots of room was the Saturday 6:30 service. (If you're able to try that one I'd really appreciate it!) With all of that growth I'm trying to stay out ahead of it as the pastor and leader of RVC and I've been doing a lot of prayer and strategizing.
One of the things I've done recently is prepare a flow chart of what our church would look like if we had 2000-3000 people worshiping with us. It took valuable time but I think it was well worth it. I went around and looked at other larger churches to see what they're doing and what fits for RVC and then I went to work. It involved several new staff additions to our team, administrative help and a greater emphasis on leadership development. In addition to that, it has shown me that we continue to need all of the people at RVC to use their gifts and talents to make a difference in this world.
Over the next few weeks I'll try to introduce on my blog some of the team members that I've added and some of the key developments. I hope you enjoy the insight and I'll try and answer any questions you may have about our expansion as we continue to reach more people and become more effective as a church.
